We Have A Date - Countdown to Landry

Today was a most exciting day. We had appointments with both the OB and the Peri. First up, was our OB. First thing in the room she tells us that she was running a little late because she had to call the hospital and get us on the schedule for our C-Section. And there it was, the date our little Landry will actually be here. I was a little blown away. As if the monstrous belly wasn't enough - this is all becoming very very real (and exciting!). Our scheduled date is Tuesday, March 30th at noon. Hopefully she won't try and come any earlier.

After leaving there, we headed to the perinatologists office. We've been seeing them every 2 weeks since week 12 (I'm at 32 weeks now). Each visit they measure for signs of preterm labor and every other visit they measure her growth. Today was the last with Drs. Magee and Yost - we have graduated from the specialists. This is bittersweet. We have loved visiting them every 2 weeks and getting the opportunity to see Landry each time. The great news is that they are no longer concerned with preterm labor. Now we just have to make sure that she has enough room to grow. They can't tell how long she is but today her femur measured about 2.5 weeks ahead and she already weighs 5lbs and 3oz. She's going to be a big girl. For those of you who don't know, her father weighed 10.5 pounds and was 24 inches long when he was born.

So, it was another day of great doctor visits. We will see our OB again in 2 weeks and she'll measure the growth 4 weeks from now. We'll have to wait another month to see baby girl on the sonogram but we've been blessed to see her as often as we have so far. March 30th - let the countdown begin.

What a woman!!

Well I am not sure about this whole blogging thing, so this might very well be the first and last you see from me. We are so excited and blessed with the life we have been given. I cannot believe all the changes we have had in the past few years. It has been amazing….. I took a new job (back to the dental field) which I have loved. I married the love of my life Nov. 1st 2008. Amy made a career change after 11 years with Citi/GE. She has gone into realty with great success, and she loves every minute. We bought a new home (pics to follow). The great news of finding out we are having a baby a little over 7 months ago. Needless to say the last couple of years have been full of change and joy.

I will skip to the main point of me writing this entry. I have married what I believe to be the most amazing women in this world. She will probably continue to write on this blog for years and never give herself any credit. Amy has been such a trooper through the whole pregnancy. She has fought off the sickness, the fatigue, the sleepless nights, the constant trips to the bathroom, and a little ribbing and kidding around from her amazingly handsome husband. Through all of this she has maintained a smile on her face and very little complaining….. I could not have done it. Another amazing thing is that she has dealt with all of these things while starting a new career. We found out we were pregnant a week (yes 1 week) after Amy started realtor school. She has had great success and has lined herself up for a successful career ahead.

We are a little less than two months away from Landry’s arrival. I cannot explain our excitement!! So many great things are right around the corner and I can’t wait. One of the things I am most excited about is watching Amy become a mother. I know she will be second to none, but it will definitely be a learning process. Amy let me in on a little secret the other day while fixing up the nursery….. She has never changed a diaper…. I repeat she has never changed a diaper!! A little scary I know, but I can honestly say I have no doubt she will be the greatest mom ever.

I also want to thank all of our friends and family for their support and love. We have been showered with love, wishes, and gifts from the beginning, and we thank all of you. I love my wife and our little Landry more than I could ever explain.

Doug

P.S. I will post some Amy preggo pictures soon….

As promised...

What A Week!

Last week was definitely a crazy one! We started out with visits to the OB and the Peri on Monday. Everything is progressing well. Baby still has plenty of room to grow and is moving a lot. Next week is our last visit to test for preterm labor. Right now we are tested every 2 weeks and we will be 32 weeks at our next visit. They are not concerned with preterm labor after 34 weeks so this is another huge milestone. We will also get another growth scan at our next visit so we can see just how big she is.

On Tuesday, the amazing folks at the Ebby office threw a shower for Brooke (another agent in our office who is due this month) and me. It was a wonderful morning. Everyone was so generous and Landry received tons of adorable stuff. We also had cake and punch which is every pregnant woman's dream at 10:30 in the morning.

Wednesday we toured another daycare facility and think this may be the one! What a relief to find a nice, clean school that is somewhat affordable and most importantly - has availability when we need it. I slept much better that night.

We spent the remainder of the week planning for Chad and Meredith's wedding shower. We hosted it with two other couples at our home on Saturday evening. We had a wonderful turnout and I think everyone had a nice time. I am so excited for the two of them. They are a great couple and I cannot wait until they are married. Hopefully I'll get to be there. The wedding is on March 20th. Just about a week before Landry is scheduled to be here. I'll be the one wearing the tent.

I finished the weekend on a wonderful note. On Sunday a group of wonderful friends hosted a baby shower for us. It was primarily my Mom's group of ladies but one of my great girlfriends, Shannon, hosted it too. It was a beautiful event. Great food, pretty flowers and awesome cupcakes. I can't belive I only had one. The gifts were overwhelming. Everyone was so sweet and wonderful to us. We received so much I can't even explain it. Landry is already so loved it's incredible. Thank you all for such an amazing day.

I don't have any pictures yet but will post them as soon as I do. I'll also take some more pics of her room now that we have so much more stuff in it.
